Roll For Initiative - Lead Designer

Roll for Initiative was a game project I worked on with NerdzGarage. I was the Lead Designer for this project, and I oversaw the development and design of all levels in the game. I was responsible for both designing my own levels, as well as ensuring a consistent quality across levels. I would meet with designers, developers, and artists daily to produce assets, coordinate development schedules, and resolve any issues blocking development. This position gave me experience as a leader for a game development team, and those skills have carried with me into my current position at Nonpareil Institute.

I’ve included screenshots of my level designs down below. If you’d like to see the game in action, I’ve included a link to the free Steam release. Feel free to download if you’d like to see my levels in closer detail!

Menu scene I designed using pre-built assets. I created this in Unreal Engine, and used the sequencer tool to create an animated intro sequence.

An interesting challenge with this project was designing maps along a grid. I worked closely with the art team to develop assets that would look natural in this environment.

I designed this level inside Unreal Engine. This is the second level in the game, where the player must infiltrate an ancient tomb full of undead warriors.

This is the final boss chamber for the second level. The player enters through a terracotta army, and as they fight, the terracotta warriors come to life, creating an intense battle!
